KAREN SALAZ is the district administrator in the 19th Judicial District of Colorado (Greeley). She began a journalism career as a newspaper reporter, later becoming the managing editor. In 2001 she joined the Colorado Judicial Department as the public information officer. During her tenure as a PIO and court administrator, the infusion of social media, whether it be as a communications outreach tool or technology to manage in the courthouse, has had a significant impact. For the past four years Ms. Salaz has been actively involved in the Conference of Court Public Information Officers’ national research project studying New Media and the Courts.
