Hon. Amy Clark Meachum began presiding over the 201st District Court in January 2011. She was formerly a litigation partner with the Austin-based law firm of McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore LLP. Before joining the bench, Judge Meachum was named a Rising Star for general civil litigation by Texas Law and Politics Magazine in 2007, 2008, and 2009. She received the Austin Young Lawyer of the Year Award for 2010 and the Austin Under 40 Award for the Legal Industry in 2011. She is a member of the Administrative and Public Law Council for the State Bar of Texas, and has previously chaired the Bench Bar Committee for the Austin Bar Association. In addition, she currently serves as the chair for the ABA Law Day Committee for 2014. She is passionate about children’s literacy and currently serves as president of the board for Bookspring, a local nonprofit. She graduated magna cum laude from Southern Methodist University with degrees in both political science and journalism and graduated from the University of Texas School of Law with honors, where she was a member of the Texas Law Review.
