KATHIE O’CONNELL is the director of courtroom support for the Los Angeles Superior Court, where she directs the organization, administration, and operations of court reporter, interpreter, and judicial assistant assignments; appeals unit; probate and research attorneys; law clerks; judicial secretaries; and records and exhibit management units. The Los Angeles Superior Court employs nearly 400 staff interpreters and more than 280 independent contractors in 86 spoken languages in 38 courthouses spread across 4,084 square miles and serves a population of 10 million residents. Ms. O’Connell has more than 30 years of experience in the state court system and is a Fellow of the Institute for Court Management—Class of 2000.
