Hon. Michael J. Talbot

HON. MICHAEL J. TALBOT was appointed to the Michigan Court of Appeals in 1998. Previously, Judge Talbot served as a judge of the Wayne Circuit, Detroit Recorder’s, and Detroit Common Pleas courts and also worked in private practice. Judge Talbot was a member of the Judicial Tenure Commission (2004-2010). He is chair of the board of Madonna University and trustee of Sacred Heart Major Seminary. In 2013 Judge Talbot was appointed by the Michigan Supreme Court to be the special judicial administrator of the 36th District Court. He served in that position for 14 months. In 2014 he was appointed chief judge of the court of claims and in 2015 reappointed for another two-year term. In January 2015 Judge Talbot became the chief judge of the Michigan Court of Appeals. He received his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and his law degree from the University of Detroit.
