Charles Byers

CHARLES BYERS, chief information officer for the Kentucky Court of Justice, and his team support court facilities and programs in all 120 counties for nearly 3,300 court employees, including over 400 elected justices, judges, and circuit court clerks. Systems include an internally developed electronic filing and case management system, automated jury management system, public records system, criminal background check systems, digital audio- and video-recording systems, video arraignment, and VoIP systems. Before moving to the judicial branch, Mr. Byers spent over two decades in IT management, most recently as director of service and delivery for justice practice within ACS Government Systems (now a Xerox Company). With a master’s in computer science and multiple technical, business, and project management certifications, and as a frequent contributor to national publications and speaker at CTC, e-Courts, and NACM, he continues to bring technical advances and process improvements to the justice community.
