Marcy Podkopacz, Ph.D. has been the Director of Research and Business Practices Divisions of the Fourth Judicial District of Minnesota – Hennepin County for the past 20 years. The Research Division produces original research of interest to the court, serves as the liaisons to the bench on academic research related to justice issues, and they present and publish research on court performance. The Business Practice Unit provides training of judicial branch employees and judges on court information systems to ensure high quality and consistent data entry, conducts business reengineering and analyzes best practices for court processing in the Courts. Dr. Podkopacz has over thirty years’ experience conducting research on justice related topics, presenting statistical information in an easily understandable manner. She received the MN Court Management Association 2016 Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Podkopacz holds a doctorate from the University of Minnesota in Sociology with an emphasis on Criminology and Statistics/Methodology.
