Kim Nieves, Ph.D. comes to court administration from corrections, where she was a prison social worker. She holds a BA in Psychology from the New School University, and a Master’s in Social Work and Ph.D. in Social Welfare from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Nieves has been with the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts for 17 years, currently serving as the Director of Research and Statistics. She is a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania; Performance Evaluation, Performance Management and Policy Analysis are among the graduate level courses she teaches. She is one of two data specialists appointed to the national advisory committee of the Conference of State Court Administrators (COSCA) Court Statistics Committee, and a regularly invited participant in the National Center for State Courts’ annual Data Specialists Roundtable. Dr. Nieves’ research and project foci include civil case management systems, family court initiatives, performance measurement, and data visualizations/infographics.
