Kevin Iwerson

Kevin Iwerson is an IT professional with over 24 years of experience in providing enterprise information technology, security, and risk management leadership within state government, Fortune 100 corporations and the United States Air Force.  Kevin currently serves as the Chief Information Officer for the Idaho Judicial Branch, recently joining the Administrative Office of the Courts in November 2012.  In this capacity, he directs the planning and implementation of information technology systems, services, projects and functions to support the operations of the Idaho Judicial Branch, including long-range planning, development and maintenance of the judiciary’s automation infrastructure, integrated case management system and other technology applications.

Prior to this role, Kevin served as the Senior Director, IT Risk, Compliance and Security Services for SUPERVALU where he provided leadership for the company’s IT security and compliance strategies protecting over 2,500 retail stores, pharmacies, distribution centers and corporate offices. He directed the information security architecture, engineering, assessment, forensics and incident response teams located across the globe. He was also responsible for overseeing IT compliance programs to include adherence with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Payment Card Industry (PCI), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.

Kevin previously served as the Chief Technology Officer and the Chief Information Security Officer in the executive-branch of the State of Idaho (within the Office of the CIO, Department of Administration).  He facilitated and led the implementation of the State of Idaho’s enterprise-wide technology strategy, plans and initiatives.  His role included leading an executive IT steering committee of 16 legislators, elected officials, education leaders, state government directors and industry executives.  He also managed the IT operations for the Department of Administration and several small to medium-sized agencies.  Kevin also retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserves, and served on active duty for many years providing cyber security and IT leadership at the Pentagon and Mountain Home Air Force Base.  In this capacity, he had the privilege of leading teams providing IT infrastructure and applications for critical data, voice and video services to our nation’s military leaders.  Prior to entering active military service, Kevin started his IT career as a Software Support Engineer for Hewlett Packard, and as an Information Systems intern for the Microsoft Corporation.  Kevin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (with a Business emphasis) from Seattle Pacific University as well as a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Technology/Information Security from Eastern Michigan University.  He is also a graduate of the United States Air Force’s Air Command and Staff College.
