Mr. Gardner received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Western Illinois University in 1984 and a Master of Science Degree in Judicial Administration from the University of Denver, College of Law, in 1986.
He served as Judicial Administrator for the Criminal Department of the Superior Court of Arizona, Maricopa County, from 1986 to 1988. In April of 1988, Mr. Gardner joined the Superior Court of California in San Diego as the Branch Court Administrator, which position he held until December of 1990, when he was promoted to Director of Criminal Operations.
Mr. Gardner accepted the position of Chief Deputy Clerk of the United States Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of California, in February 1992 and remained in that position until August 2001, when he accepted the position of Clerk of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois. In March, 2014, Mr. Gardner fulfilled a life long dream and accepted the position of Clerk of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado.
Mr. Gardner has served as the Chair of the Bankruptcy Clerks’ Advisory Group. He has been an active member of the National Association of the Bankruptcy Clerks, serving as a board member, web liaison and President. He has previously served on numerous Administrative Office committees and projects. Mr. Gardner is a trained facilitator for various programs sponsored by the Federal Judicial Center, and the Administrative Office of the US Courts.
